Praslin, 15 minutes flight from Mahé, is the second-largest of the Seychelles – just 7 miles by 2 miles in area and with only around 5,000 inhabitants. Coco de Mer:
A friendly and very comfortable little property, designed in contemporary Seychellois style, nestled between the sea and the famous Vallée de Mai. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and sitting beside its own beach, Coco de Mer offers spacious accommodation in a superbly peaceful location, incorporating the Black Parrot Junior Suites (200 metres away) – beachfront neighbours on Praslin’s sunset-facing west coast. This friendly, family run, hotel is a great little hideaway of great value – explore the local nature, go cycling, or just relax on a hammock on the beach. Special privileges include a courtesy shuttle to Anse Lazio beach, welcome cocktail, free afternoon tea and coffee and a free guided nature walk. At certain times of the year, receive one day free car hire when you stay in a Superior Room – perfect Praslin!
Accommodation:
Coco de Mer features 40 refurbished bungalow rooms – some located at garden level by the sea, others set higher (most have sea view). Some are split-level and all have a large bedroom with four-poster bed, sitting area (convertible to accommodate two children), private bath and shower, satellite television, mini-fridge, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. Superior Rooms offer the same amenities as the Standard Rooms but located directly on the beach terrace.
Black Parrot Suites:
Adjoining Coco de Mer, this small, intimate and very comfortable little retreat clusters amid rocks and trees on a granite outcrop overlooking two romantic white-sand beaches, with spectacular views of the surrounding islands. The spacious quality Junior Suite accommodation exudes an unmistakable Seychellois mood. The property’s surroundings and design all contribute to making this a hideaway with a special charm.
Accommodation:
Just 12 large and recently renovated junior suite-style rooms, split-level with king-size four-poster bed, spacious bathroom (shower and semi-circular corner bath), sea facing balcony, small sitting area (with two corner sofas convertible to beds), air-conditioning, ceiling fan, mini-bar, telephone, tea/coffee-maker, hairdryer, wall-safe and satellite television. One VIP Suite has a private courtyard with Jacuzzi – pure bliss!
Dining options:
Located at the Coco de Mer, the Hibiscus Restaurant features a combination of international and Creole cuisine; barbecues, buffets and table d’hôte is served. The emphasis is on quality, variety, professional presentation and service. Friday evening Creole buffets and displays are not to be missed. An English breakfast is served, with a range of hot and cold options, fresh tropical fruits, Italian coffee and freshly baked croissants. The pool grill, the Fisherman’s Wharf, is open for lunch and offers succulent seafood, sandwiches and light snacks. You can also enjoy an exotic sundowner or a refreshing drink after a dip in the pool. The Fisherman’s Wharf is located at the Coco de Mer.
Clients are welcome to reserve a table at the adjacent Black Parrot. Mouth-watering light meals and cool drinks are served pool side at the Mango Terrace Bar & Grill. Coconut Bar & Black Parrot Bar, located at the adjacent Black Parrott (200 metres away), features live music approximately three or four times a week.
Catamaran Cruising:
